Woomera is an aboriginal word meaning 'spear launcher', it is the closest settlement to Pimba and was once a research facility and was a restricted Australian Defence Force facility for the Royal Australian Air Force. They had a group of outside workers needed and these people built shacks in Pimba as they were not allowed to live at Woomera, this helped establish Pimba itself and those that are there now, stayed.
Woomera is a place you have to go see especially if you like rockets, we went to see the Woomera National Aerospace and Missile Park, wandered thro the Heritage Center and museum. I took so many photographs and can only put up a few... here they are :)
